Cleanliness starts from home

A disturbing development took place today - The Anna was viciously attacked by the congress party in party's stereotypical tenor and whim. Although I was deeply hurt, I wasn't quite so surprised. Instead, it reminded me of what Gandhiji said when he was in a similar boil with the British - "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you and then...you win". It's quite apparent that the "jan aandolan" led by Anna has reached the "then they fight you" phase - and it seems quite a turn of an era finding the "Modern Gandhi" in the eye of the storm this time. Congress party has always had a particular way of dealing with revolts against it and it hasn't changed in the last 40 years. Back in 1974 when Jaiprakash Narain wanted to put a dent on the government's spurious regime, he was accused of conniving with the Americans.

In its latest, not-to-mention shameless and characterless, attempt to dent the image of Anna, after much rummaging through old ghettos, they have come out with a report that was tabled by Justice Sawant commission. What they conveniently ignore is that Anna himself got his name included in the inquiry by the commission, which was otherwise set up to probe charges against four Maharashtra ministers after a crusade against them by Anna himself. They also do not mention that all the findings of that report about Anna were rebuffed by the court.

They do not end here. Further up they accuse Anna of spending 2 odd lakh rupees on his birthday. Although the people of Ralegaon (the village he helped develop) say that all of that money was used in the development of the village, a trademark way of Anna celebrating his birthday, the point is even bigger, Anna says he did spend from the fund of Hind Swaraj Trust but that money was returned to the trust.

Although Anna has blunted the attack on him by saying that now his fast is till he either is proved guilty on the charges by congress or is acquitted off them, the very shallowness of our politicians and the stinking truth of Indian politics that there are no ideals, just dummy -ideologies, is flabbergasting. Its so vulgar that instead of listening and reasoning out with the public, our government first thinks of finding chinks in the armor of the crusaders to defile their revolt.

A 74-year old man living in a temple in a 10ft by 8ft room is taking on the high and mighty, not caring about his reputation, image or life is something that we as the next generation should consider very much our business. Its our opportunity to spin tales so that we can proudly tell our grandchildren that we were a part of India's second freedom movement. I will be there at the JP Park on Aug 20. Will you?

Hello World!

Yes, being a computer engineer (??), this is an apt title to my first blog here. Even since Steve Wozniac saw this printed on his computer screen, world started to change and the genesis of a new revolution took place. We say that the change is the only constant and the world constantly keeps on changing. However, I see some very compelling reasons to believe that things that should really have changed, have not changed and are constant since time immemorial - and I am not speaking as a cynical Indian but as a citizen of the world.

Thus, I thought to create a blog where I would share my ideas focusing on things I want to change in this world and also discuss my friends' ideas on the same.

So here you go KarwalNama! Happy Birthday!
